In Septemeber 2009 my partner and I visited Roddy Nugget Cafe on our way through the South Island in a Camper Van. It was a Sunday night and we were treated to the incredible hospitality and cooking of the West Coast.
The $15.00 Roast Dinner was on and it was fantastic. Beautiful New Zealand home cooking, the ambiance of the fire and the warm welcome of the West Coast people. We were only going to stop briefly, but we stayed all night.
It was the night for the locals to play their music and honestly it was one of the best nights of our life. The food, the beer, the entertainment, the friendly patrons. They made us feel like family, we ate, drank, sung and laughed all night long.
I had wanted my partner to experience true West Cost hospitality and it couldn't get any better.
The cafe is filled with character, be it anything from the rustic decor through to the locals and owners.
If you ever pass through, do not miss this! An experience to remember for life!Thank you Roddy Nugget Cafe. :-)
