Stewart Island Flights provides an airline service between Invercargill and Stewart Island, just over Foveaux Strait. Stewart Island is one of New Zealand's best kept secrets and the ultimate wilderness experience. Most of the Island is uninhabited, covered in dense native bush, rainforest, sand dunes and wetlands.
Oban is the small township on the Island, situated in Halfmoon Bay. Many sheltered bays and beaches are scattered along the 750 kilometers of indented coastline.
Stewart Island (or Rakiura) is roughly triangular in shape covering a total of 1683 square kilometers, similar in size to Singapore.
The Island itself offers beauty and tranquility in a unique, picturewque setting. Attractions on the island include fishing, tramping, hunting, bush walking, kayaking and kiwi spotting - the only place in New Zealand where the native kiwi can be seen in its natural habitat.
Stewart Island Flights operate three return scheduled flights per day to Stewart Island and offers more to meet demand in summer. Charter Flights are also available to remote Stewart Island west coast beaches and destinations throughout New Zealand.
The flights between Invercargill and Stewart Island is 20 minutes in duration and offers unique scenic vistas.
