8th May 2009 My partner and I stayed at Blackburn Lodge at the end of 2005. Here I am, over three years later writing a review - it was that memorable. We were attending a conference at the Eastern Institute of Technology and did our own check for accommodation just to see if there was anything interesting around other than the recommended hotels. Blackburn looked nice and comfortable and reasonably priced. It turned out to be more like luxury. We had a super king sized bed in a huge room. There were inviting social spaces (sitting rooms, etc) and the breakfast, included, was beautiful - fresh coffee, crossaints and pastries, cereals, fresh local fruit and preserves, etc. More than anything, what struck us was the hospitality. We were offered a complimentary shuttle service to the airport and rides to the conference, afternoon tea on arrival by the pool, and more than anything, friendly, enthusiastic hosts who were willing to help in anyway they could. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
