Kia ora, and welcome to Travelling Tales, the cyber space home of New Zealand storyteller Athene (AJ) Jensen.
Storytelling is as old as humankind itself. It is an organic, ever growing experience that over lifetimes develops, reflects and addresses the society we live in. A teller of tales is never short of a penny, a meal or a bed for their services which is maybe what finally hooked me into it.
I never remember not being told stories by my parents and older sisters. Legends of the land, classic mythology and fairytales and stories about my whanau and ancestors. I easily moved from listening to tales to spinning the yarns myself.
My storytelling style is one that portrays the characterization of the inhabitants in the tales I tell. My performances use a mixture of traditional and interactive storytelling to create a magical palette of paint for the listeners imagination.
I am available to perform at childcare's, kindergartens, schools, festivals, community events, Christmas and birthday parties... anywhere there is a need for a story to be spun.
