26th May 2012 The guy who runs this place (poppa??) is extrememly nice & welcoming. However I really think he needs more experienced staff. Our meals were very ordinary at best, My steak (medium rare) was tough and dry and cut very thin. Partners snapper was dry and overcooked. My sons burger which we were told was 'substantial' was NOT and he was still hungry. No fries with burger -had to spend more and buy seperate. In our meals far too many fries(medley of fries) and a really tiny boring salad, with mayo.....salads should have vinaigrette. Only one set of salt & pepper to share amongst the whole restaurant & empty sauce bottles. Water should be on offer too, instead of overpriced singles from the coke range. I do hope things improve because Ngaruawahia could do with a really good restaurant and this guy is lovely and it looks like he's been in the industry a while.Best of luck. By the way Poppas is now in the building where Cafe Le Bron used to be...Great South Rd
