Parent Voice: From age seven months to five years, Claudia's education, care and nurturing has come in large from ABC Parkside. We were so pleased to get her into a pre-school within easy distance from work. I was particularly grateful for that on 22 February 2011 when I had to get to Claudia following the earthquake. I will always think of the Parkside staff as heroes for looking after our little people as we tried desperately to get to them. Many of you had your own families to worry about but you ensured that all children were safe and comforted until parents could arrive. Claudia is always showing us the great things she picks up at school, such as learning sign language, Te Reo, understanding her cultural heritage, and healthy eating. When she tells me at the supermarket to "look for the healthy tick, Mum", I know she is learning well. Claudia has thrived amongst the diverse range of cultures present at the pre-school and has made many great friends. She loves the Theme Days, celebrations of birthdays and other major events, and the planned excursions. One of the outstanding activities that Parkside initiated this year is the highly successful Soccer 4 Tots. Claudia loves it and having attended as many of the sessions as possible, I can see the other children learning hand-eye coordination and working as a team. Thanks to all of you for your professionalism and giving our little girl a great start in her education.
