9th September 2011 Cafe Istanbul has great Turkish food and we really enjoyed the belly dancer entertainment. The restaurant is BYO so bring your own wine.

15th October 2010 I went to Cafe Istanbul on Cuba Street wanting to experience different types of food (other than the rediculous number of indian restaurants around Courtenay place). I went with my girlfriend and was immediatley bombarded with women wearing next to nothing dancing around the place like a b grade brothel. However, these were traditional turkish women dancers so I suppose that was OK. We were waiting approximately five minutes to be seated and were served quite quickly. We ordered and the meals arrived in perhaps 10 minutes hinting at a lack of fresh cooking being done. However, the meal was enjoyable (I had the mixed platter for 30 dollars) and the dancers eventually finished and was a nice dinner thereafter. Dessert was incredible to say the least, with my nine dollar mud cake the highlight of my meal. It was incredibly rich with sauces sprinkled around it. Also at only nine dollars it was well worth the price. All in all it was a reasonably impressive experience and one which certainly got better as the night went on.

30th September 2010 This place is huge! Food is pretty good, came here for a 21st with a group of about 8. Food for all of us came out about 10-15 mins later, so I assume most of it was just sitting in a fridge waiting to be heated up (can't decide if this was a good or bad thing!) BYO makes it even better. Not exactly intimate but a great place to go with a group of friends
Went there on a busy night. The service was friendly and the food was delicious and served quickly. Yum
