Local residents Mark Hopkins and Jon Baxter have teamed up with chefs John Pountney and Marc Harris to create The Refreshment Room, located at 233 Scenic Drive, Titirangi, the site of the old Montana Winery. They aim to provide a warm, casual and inviting dining room.
A large deck with views across the Waitakere bush will offer outside dining during the summer months. Pountney and Harris have extensive experience in London and Europe, and were the culinary team behind the successful Delicious restaurant in Grey Lynn.
They will incorporate their passion for rustic Italian fare with a regularly changing blackboard menu based around fresh and seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant is fully licensed, and serves a selection of fine wine, beers and cocktails.

We have been really impressed by this place. The menu is imaginative -without being too ambitious, and the quality has been outstanding. I unreservedly recommend it. We've spent a lot of time in Italy, and it reminds us of a good, local trattoria!
