22nd September 2013 I took my mother's rings for valuation with a time frame of one week. I received a call the next day with confusion about the time frame which I corrected.
The rings were briefly inspected when I delivered them and a docket noted receipt of them. When I collected them a comment was made that one had a small diamond missing - implying that the ring arrived in this state. I thought this must be one of the tiny diamonds that was not noticeable. However when I opened the rings at home it was obvious. I called the next day informing them of this difficult situation and that the diamond had not been missing when left at the business but this was disputed. Staff inspecting the rings did not comment on the obvious loss of a diamond and the docket did not record that any diamond was missing - I was told that this staff omission "was naughty". Unfortunately although I had recent photos of the rings the position of this ring was not ideal to prove the ring was intact.
I suggest that if any rings are taken to this jeweller a clear inspection of them is done together and the docket clearly records the rings and condition of them with both client and staff signing the docket. However my overall experience has sent me elsewhere for future jewellery needs.
