19th July 2012 We travelled quite a way to get to Greg and Margie du Bern's B & B nestled on the lower slopes of the Kaimai Ranges and it is worth travelling great distances for. The views of sea and surrounds are wondrous and the comforts, service and hospitality are the best we have experienced.
Our evening introduction was wine and starters, followed by a dinner of succulent pastry-encrusted beef fillet and vegetable sides using the freshest local produce much of it organic and free-range. Dessert of creme brulee was melt in the mouth perfection.
We were very impressed with the breakfast menu, which varied each day. This included home-made toasted and Bircher mueslis, Spanish omelette, eggs benedict and crusty, home-baked toast. What also made it so special is that it is real dinkum home created fare- never so more than Margie's special chocolate brownies there for the tempting in the guest refreshment area with its fruit bowl and wide selection of teas and coffee.
Our guest room was roomy and set for the views and morning sun. We luxuriated in a huge comfy bed with (needless to say) crispy fresh linen.
You could truly say no attention to detail has been spared. All round excellent.
Oh and the nicest touch. It was my birthday! And once this was revealed we returned from our day out to a chilled bottle of champagne compliments of our wonderful hosts Greg and Margie. Late as it was we popped the cork not only for my day but the special place that marked it.
We'll be back and we know you would love it too!
