Finally we have real authentic mexican food in Auckland!! Fantastic fresh food, attentive service and a lovely menu. Have been in recently for lunch and an early dinner so haven't experienced any queues but very impressed both times and we will be back!!

Mexico Britomart brings the distinctive taste of Mexico(TM)s back streets to the diners of Auckland.

Bright, bold and a lot of fun, Mexico Restaurant showcases the lighter, fresher side of Mexican cuisine. The menu is small but fairly representative of Mexican street food. It includes soft shell tacos, tortilla and delicious salads such as the green bean, potato, watercress and roast garlic chimichurri.

Mexico(TM)s drinks menu is also very authentic, featuring a range of top shelf tequilas, three kinds of sangria, a good number of cerveza including the popular Sol and Corona beers, margaritas and interesting cocktails.

Mexico adds to Britomart(TM)s party vibe and is an ideal venue for groups, great for hanging out and catching up with friends.

An important point to note is that they don(TM)t take bookings, walk-ins only, so it pays to arrive early.

Went to try out Mexico in Ellerslie last night at around 8pm and was told that the wait is about 20 - 30 mins. The wait staff was so cold and unwelcoming so we left & went to the Britomart one instead. Upon reaching there around 8:30pm, we were told that the wait would be around 45mins - 1hr. So we waited as we've already drove so far for it. When we finally got a seat around 9:20pm, we were told that they ran out of most of the items. So, fine, we ordered a few that was still available. The wait for food was quite long given that most crowd already left. When the food came, the content in the taco was so miniscule like as though they were trying to salvage the remaining of the filling to fit the orders. I used to love dining there and even rave about them to all my friends,but I guess I won't be back for a while now.

The place is busy so it's a good idea to go early. Very cosy and you often get to share a table with other groups but I think that's a part of experience. Like JonnyC says: Price is good but you can end up ordering heaps and together with the margaritas it's really easy to spend quite a bit.

A fun, night out with great Mexican food. The two of us shared 4 plates of food plus we ordered churros - a divine experience. Go for the plum margarita!

What a place, what a buzz, what a taste sensation. Mexico is not so much a dining experience as a sensory assault...in a good way. The food is good, but don't go there just for that, it's bright, bold, loud and fast-paced, just like it's namesake country. Mexico is reasonably priced but it's easy to spend a lot of money there.
