26th April 2013 The food was tasty and the portions great. Love the speed and friendliness of the staff though no one asked if I wanted glass with my beer and I drank it from bottle which don't mind at all. The taste of my meal was very good though the jack Daniels sauce was less than subtle I'll say absent. Also even not promised I would have expected the eggs used to be free range especially with the price of that plate (the eggs were bit tasteless and free range taste lot better). The side of the bar was nice and calm and joy to sit there. But the main hall can be loud and unpleasant, specially with loudmouth laughing patrons and kids fighting. The square shape of the hall is like a giant speaker! I rate the food and service only. The venue will be 2 stars only and that because the nice clean decor even in the bathrooms. The seats could have been better too.

1st February 2012 The food was yum, but the service was poor. We were given free bread because the kitchen mucked up the order.
The kids menu was great, however trying to entertain them while waiting for theirs and our desserts was pain staking!

2nd May 2011 I had a $100 Gift Voucher to spend. Our meal came to $74.50. I was given a $20 voucher in change and told they couldn't give me the change of $5.50 as the vouchers are not redeemable for cash. I was asked to stay and spend the balance on a drink. My husband and I were leaving to meet family members. The restaurant were unable to give me a voucher for $5 as Lonstar only stock $20, $50 and $100 denominations. I was not given the option to pay $15 for a $20 voucher. The very next morning I rang the restaurant to express how unfair it all was. Guess what, because I didn't settle the matter on the night it was too late to action. Out of all of this I have been offered a tee shirt. Great Food though.

30th November 2010 The food was delicious but the service wasnt great i waited way over the expected time bacause my order didnt get through to the kitchen. They made up for it by giving me a free t-shirt and some bread on the house.

11th October 2010 Went to the Lonestar Cafe in Petone on Saturday night. Had booked but the maitre d' would not let us sit down until our friends arrived as had no table. Sent to sit in very loud bar, when friends arrived we were taken to a table that had always been reserved for us. TV on quite loudly with sports channel which we weren't expecting as didn't think it was a sports bar. Food however was superb, with good portions. Wouldn't recommend for a romantic dinner but great with friends. If the maitre d' would stop clicking his pen continuously whilst walking around it would be great :-)
