29th August 2010 This is definitely the place to go if you want a good old Chinese food, yet it also have plenty of choices that you can come back 5 times in a row and not order the same thing!! Agree with the previous review about the basic decor, but the food will more than make up for it.
12th October 2011 A good Chinese restaurant with tasty food and fair portion. You can tell as it's always full and you have to make reservations! Though the staffs will need to polish their customer service skills.

27th December 2010 Tonight was the first night in several years since I had been to this restaurant. And it was very disappointing. The service was slow with only one lady taking orders and the time delay from kitchen to table wasn't the best. It took 25 minutes for the first of 3 mains to come out and 30 minutes for the third, not really living up to its motto, "Hong Kong style Fast Food," the food when i visited Hong Kong came to the table much faster. Along with the "flavour" (or should i say lack of "") not making up for time spent waiting. The dishes we ordered were mundane to say the least the chilli chicken sauce tasted as if it had come from a packet, thick sweet chilli goo. The fried noodles had no flavour so had to add soy sauce and chilli for it to actually taste like anything. And for a restaurant to be named Love a Duck and not have any duck is quite upsetting and appalling. Anyway i might have to give this restaurant a chance to redeem itself, but that won't be anytime soon. Hopefully for 2011 they will come out of holiday mode and step up their game to compete with the various other asian restaurants situated on dominion rd.

21st July 2010 Go here most Wednesdays and it never fails to please. The decor and service is basic, though the food is great and consistant. - this is a winner.

16th July 2010 It's funny, as I write this review, I realise that I've been to the other L.A.D. further down Dominion Road as well as the one in Auckland City - obviously a good testament to this restaurant's food quality.
This Dominion road store is more intimate than the others, and very easy to miss. My advice: when you get to the corner, walk v-e-r-y slow-ly.
For a quick, simple, tasty, great value-for-money HK-kitchen feed, and easy to read English menu, you can't go wrong with Love A Duck!

15th July 2010 Yummmmy! This place has been around for years, but I only got introduced to it about 5 years ago and now I am a frequent diner.I used to go there with my ex who loved the duck and ordered 1/2 a duck every time. The staff called him Mr duck, quite apt now that we are not together ( wish he ordered pig!) If you want fresh barbecue duck and hot fragrant asian cuisine, then this is the place. You can always tell if a place is popular by how many diners are there lunch and dinner times. This place does not disappoint. With modest surroundings, and good honest fast food, you will be hooked. Prices are reasonable, starting with wanton noodle soup at $7.00. I highly recommend this neighbourhood hangout. One of Balmorals best kept secrets.
