21st July 2012 what an awesome day. wandering down street in Sumner and came across a sign for a wine bar, followed the directions to a wooden gate, opened it and wandered in. Well what a surprise. A wine bottle store in a container and a wine bar in tents next to the container. The atmosphere was wonderful, leather stools, wine barrels, gas heaters and throws(for those that are feeling the cold) and fairy lights and tea light candles. We left a couple of hours later after a few wines, a cheese platter, and pate with toast. WOW what a great place to relax and enjoy good food and wine. Well done to Debbie and Wayne to getting their business up and running again after the chch earthquakes. everyone should go check out THE VILLAGE GRAPE in Nayland Street Sumner

2nd February 2011 I went into the village grape today and was browsing around. I then left and returned 10 minutes later only to be abused by the owner who had assumed that i was not intending to buy. Will never go back he was rude and offensive.
