10th May 2008 Myself, my husband and son stayed in April at the Top Pub. We got a comfortable room for a $100. Although the hotel only had shared facilities, it is what you would expect for a 150 year old hotel. It had a very relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant had an good menu with excellent prices - nothing over $20. Worth a stay!
Greytown Hotel is one of New Zealand's oldest surviving hotels, located in the historic town of Greytown, this Victorian building is 150 years old and is perfectly positioned within easy travelling distance to local wineries, galleries, outdoor adventure activities and local attractions.
Recently restored, The Greytown Hotel now offers a range of dining options for small and large parties, private functions and weddings. The addition of a Conference room makes the Greytown Hotel a one stop desination.
8th July 2012 Food was excellent but should be for the prices paid, but in saying that the price of the Garlic Bread was exorbitant. 4 thin slices of sour dough bread for $9.00. But that's not the main issue as the service was below par. Were not greeted as we arrived & had to seek out a waitress then had to seat ourselves. When we changed seats (our choice)the waitress left it to us to shift. Had to go back & retrieve our wine. Weren't offered any water had had to ask twice before we got some. Also both waitresses showed little if any interest in us as customers. Wouldn't take much to rectify but did affect our enjoyment of the night.

15th January 2010 Great new refurbishment. Took family out for dinner in the new restaurant. very friendly, great looking restaurant. Nice to have another option here in Greytown.

21st March 2008 New owners, new rules....
We arrived thursday before Good Friday to stay for one night. Nothing was mentioned when the reservation was made about closing on Good Friday. We paid 80 dollars up front?! and got to our room. Very small not even a chair. "Breakfast" we could make ourselves: toast and a cup of tea. In the morning we smelled wonderful breakfast odours and thought that we misunderstood. But there was no one there and this must have been the breakfast of the owner......
