19th October 2011 A great menu, which a few of us enjoyed, starting with an Antipasto at the bar while looking straight out onto the pacific ocean. The wine list was good along with a good selection of scotch and bourbon. The Anti was great enough for 4 people easy! Next up a fantastic carbonara, perfectly cooked Margerita pizza which the small(8slices) feed two and the beautiful pork belly delighted these customers! No room for the yummy desserts, but the cheese board was fantastic with them using whitestone cheeses and coffees.I have been here numerous times and enjoy the feel of the place. Some staff think they are above the customers and gush or seem condersending but most are friendly and don't overtake the table, which is important to me. Their wine knowledge can be a bit lacking, but maybe this is due to teaching? I love it though, and think that since its been here forever they must be doing something right! Toilets were clean and although they don't have highchairs, there was plenty of room for our buggy and they offered paper and pens to keep a toddler entertained, along with giant marshmellows and fluffies! Well Done!

16th November 2010 Great location. Prices are good. The food is a little bit of a let down. My wife ordered the Caesar Salad and was literally given mesculan with a cherry tomato at the N.E.S.W. positions and a little bit of cottage cheese dumped in the middle. No where near the $14 worth we paid for it. My meal was fine, nothing to write home about though.

2nd October 2010 This is a fabulous spot - right on the beach with lovely views and a real feeling of being in a relaxing (yet busy) beach environment. Watch the surfers go by as you eat your meal. Nice range of food/prices and the coffee is divine. Great place to meet up with friends.

26th July 2010 The Esplanade is a good restaurant for a solid meal when out in Dunedin. Easy to talk with others, the old family members I usually catch up with enjoy the Esplanade
