2nd October 2010 I caught a cab home with driver 59 on Saturday 02.10.10 at 2am. My friends got out at their stop (half way to mine) and paid the fair up to that point. The driver then asked if "I want to start a new one" to which I said "yep I'm carrying on to (...my address)".
He then reset the meter, so there was a new flag fare, and began towards my stop. I told him immediately I wasn't going to pay a new flag-fare when I was just carrying on, and there was silence. I repeated myself and told him I wasn't going to pay it and he got angry and said "you told me you wanted to start a new one". I said "that's not how it works". He sped up, and there was silence until he reached my stop. To his credit he didn't argue waiving the flag-fare when I got out.
