Good morning Chad,

Thank you for your e-mail, the staff at Papanui did ring us re the faulty fitment of your oil filter.
I looked in our system but did not have any contact details for you.
I have no problems refunding your service cost, with this also I will add a free service in our system for you, in the hope you will try us again.

Chad, we service a lot of cars at Oil Changers Hornby and every so often we have a fault, I am sorry this happened however we do not purposely fit oil filters without seals, I have reviewed the video footage of your service and discussed this with the staff member involved.
I will be out of Christchurch until early February so I ask you to pop in and we will refund you in cash.
Chad, as you said, "you have been so pleased with Oil Changers", but in this instance we have let you down.
We are "kind" people here as well and hope you will give us another go!

Most of the time, OC are excellent. Service with a smile and do a great job in a fast manner. But not always. Last visit 08/12/12 my new oil filter got fitted without the rubber seal and almost the entire engine oil leaked out of my car from the new oil filter all over my driveway and the road. Ended up paying money for my car to be in a worse state than it was before I drove it in. Generally they are very good. But this is not a minor mistake and could of been disastrous. Will be investing in an oil pan and doing my own services from now on.
