9th October 2009 Recommended to us because of their award winning pies this cafe disappointed. The lasagne labelled "beef" contained almost no meat of any kind, was solidly filled with vegetable and cheese to a heart threatening level. The pasta texture was poor. The fritata picked by my partner was equally disappointing more filler than thriller, and at the prices the quality should be better. When the tea arrived everything connected with it looked like the dishwashing system had failed, and stainless steel does show up the greasy marks. The cake choices we made were also disappointing. "Brownie" implies a crisp outer chewey inner texture not a cross between cake and shortbread. The cheescake had clearly been sitting around long enough to apply for a pension and the fruit part was going off. The base had become rock solid as the moisture had been evaporated out in the chiller. Those food safety lectures that tell you how many days you can keep stuff in a chiller until someone buys it are supposed to be something you remember. Change the supplier, if you can't get a better one learn to make it yourself.
Tea requires the tea leaves to be fresh, and pulling tea bags out of a box that has been sitting in a hot place instead of using the indivdually sealed ones may save you money but ruined our tea drinking experience. The cheap place across the road did a far better job.
It is misleading to trade on awards that may have been won by a previous owner.
