An integrated industry organisation enhancing development of New Zealand's commercial forestry industry, representing the major corporate and key sector associations, spanning the value chain from growers to processors and marketing companies. NZFIC focuses on key business growth issues that have industry wide implications and co-ordinating strategic responses. Key areas of activity are education/safety/training; research/development; environment/energy, communications; and market access. The Council's goal is to enhance the international competitiveness of New Zealand's pulp and paper, remanufacturing, sawmilling, wood panels and resource sectors. The Council represents an industry based on a sustainable, managed, planted production forest resource of 1.7 million hectares.
