I have dealt with the Bettany team for over 10 years. We have never had an issue and they remain an integral part of our business.
Suppliers of quality workmanship, commitment to dead-lines and a wealth of knowledge. In the production of our racing spec gears which are all exported from NZ to off-shore markets world-wide.
I look forward to discussing the above with Donna + Ken. I suggest anyone who wants the other side of the story, as there are always two. Would be wise to do the same. These guys are great and I highly reccomend them.

30th October 2007 In 2006 I paid Bettany $9k to make 2 dog gearsets for my car. They undertook design and fitting of gears into my supplied housing. They chose spur gears, whilst retaining helical drive pinion, and did allow clearance for shaft movements. This caused dual engagement failure within 2km: 1st gear engaged whilst power was applied in 3rd gear. Metallurgical investigation of failed parts also showed severe surface burning due to faulty in-house heat treatment (process undisclosed). Bettany took no responsibility & advised to get another manufacturer to fix the problem. After 3 months of requesting my money back I had to employ a lawyer to seek reimbursement. 11 months after purchase I accepted an out-of court offer of settlement ( which did not cover my $6k of damages and recovery costs). The second unused gear set was returned to Bettany – they may try to sell it to another unsuspecting buyer. Bettany used "gut feeling" and offered no design evidence. Further info kev@dwl.co.nz
