Logan Park High School is a co-educational school in Dunedin, a city of 120,000, home to the University of Otago, and known as the "student city". The school is set in a valley surrounded by forest, five minutes' walk from the campus.
Logan Park is well-known as Dunedin's performance arts school and is proud of its well-deserved reputation for academic excellence, based on outstanding national scholarship results. In 2006 Logan Park High School was the top co-ed school in Dunedin and second overall in scholarship results.
Logan Park has a roll of 600 students from year 9 to year 13. The school is strong in English, Art, Music, Drama, Science, Maths and languages, including Maori, Japanese, German, French and Latin. Students have access to computers in and out of class time with a ratio of one to every two students. There are numerous opportunities for musical students, including two school choirs, several chamber music groups, a jazz band, an orchestra and after school rock music academy.
Logan Park has Dunedin's top secondary school football, futsal and ice hockey teams as well as highly competitive teams in girls' and boys' field hockey, badminton, and basketball.
The school has a climbing club and the city's only indoor climbing wall. As well as the Outdoor Education course in the Sports Academy, we offer international students an Outdoor Experience programme of at least 2 trips each term, including kayaking, skiing or snow boarding, tramping and sight seeing in the stunning scenery of the lower South Island made famous in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
There are many Music, Drama, Literary and Art activities at LPHS. Students can join any of the 12 drama productions each year including musicals, dance, Shakespeare, one act plays, as well as some touring work.
